Kadangawalk

As per local folklore, Montrose Estate originally belonged to the Kodava Kings of Coorg and is known to locals as “Kottaikadu” which means “Palace Forests”. Some palace ruins and trenches dug by the Maharaja for his protection still remain. These trenches are known as “Kadanga”. Take a walk through one of the original remains of the long lost escape routes used by the Kodava Kings themselves. These trenches were originally used to run horses though them, but over the years they have become smaller. The remains of the palace and the trenches are now covered in dense foliage.
